MORE BITE. SAME DANCE.

The Tango Microfiber Cutting Pad takes everything that makes the Tango polishing pad great and turns up the aggression. Same dual-layer HDO construction, same body-line-hugging profile — but built to cut. It's the pad to grab when the polishing pad doesn't have enough teeth and you need to pull defects out faster, without jumping to a heavy wool or thin-foam cutting pad that fights you the whole way.

  • Stiffer blue HDO foam: We swapped the polishing pad's orange foam for a firmer blue HDO layer. Less squish means the pad transfers more energy into the paint, so you get noticeably more cut.
  • Microfiber cutting fibers: The face uses more aggressive cutting fibers than the polishing pad — more bite, faster defect removal. Expect a real step up in cutting power.
  • Dual-layer design runs cooler: The thick foam interface absorbs heat and friction, so the pad doesn't spike in temperature like thin-foam cutting pads. That keeps it performing and lets you cycle the pad longer before swapping.
  • Smoother on the machine: Less vibration, more forgiving, and it flows up and over body panels cleanly. It's a far more comfortable cut than a standard thin-foam microfiber cutting pad.
  • Built for correction, not finishing: This pad is made to remove defects. Expect some marring behind it — plan to follow with a polishing step to refine.
  • DA polishers only: Built specifically for dual-action polishers. Not designed to run on a rotary.
  • Sizes: Available in 5″, 6″, and a 3″ 2-pack for spot correction and tight areas.

How to Use

Dual-Action (DA) Polisher

  1. Center the pad on your backing plate and press firmly to seat it.
  2. Prime a new pad with a few drops of compound worked across the face before your first set.
  3. Apply 3–4 pea-sized dots of compound to the pad.
  4. Spread at low speed across your work area (roughly 2'x2'), then bring the machine up to speed 4–6.
  5. Work the section in slow, overlapping passes until the compound breaks down and clears.
  6. Wipe the residue with a clean microfiber towel and inspect under good lighting.
  7. Follow with the Tango polishing pad and Classic Polish to clear any marring left behind.

Detailer Tips

  • Pair with aggressive compounds: This pad is built for cut — run it with Classic Cut, Classic Cut Plus, or Flat Top. We love it with Classic Cut and Classic Cut Plus specifically.
  • Our go-to combo: Tango cutting pad with Classic Cut (or Classic Cut Plus), then follow with Classic Polish on an HDO Orange Foam Pad to refine and clear any marring.
  • It runs cooler — but still swap pads: The thick foam holds up to heat better than thin-foam cutting pads, so you can cycle it a little longer. Still, change pads as you move around a larger vehicle once the fibers load up with product.
  • Don't let it overheat: Excess heat breaks the foam down and softens the adhesive — get a pad too hot and it can delaminate. Keep passes controlled and rotate to a cool pad before things heat up.
  • Read the paint: Darker colors and soft clears show marring more. Use your discretion on how aggressive to go and how much refining the second step needs.
