Wash essentials

Everything in the video

Washing is where most paint damage happens, and almost all of it comes down to the wrong soap or the wrong tool. These four are what we actually use, and splitting the pads top and bottom is the part most people skip.

Never heard of us?

A family business, not a brand

Jeremy Stevens started detailing in 1996 and built Shine Supply out of the family garage in 2008. His two sons work alongside him today, and it is still run out of one shop in Ventura, California. It has never been sold to private equity and it never will be.

The stuff that makes it easier

A truck is a lot more surface area than a car, and most of the frustration comes from fighting a hose, running out of clean towel, or not having one cleaner that handles everything the soap will not.

The order matters

How a wash should go

Most of the damage people do washing a vehicle comes from doing these steps out of order, not from the product they used.

1

Rinse it down

Knock the loose dirt off before anything touches the paint. Top down, and get the wheel wells while you are there.

2

Wheels first

Wheels and tires are the dirtiest part of the vehicle. Do them before the paint so the overspray rinses off instead of drying on a clean panel.

3

Foam, then wash

Lay down foam to loosen what is left, then wash top down with two buckets. Flat Out pads on the upper panels, Block Party on the rockers and lower doors.

4

Dry it right away

Water spots form while a panel dries on its own. A large drying towel gets the whole vehicle in a couple of passes.

Questions we get

Why two different wash pads?

Because the bottom of a vehicle is far dirtier than the top. The rockers, lower doors and bumpers collect road grit, and that grit is exactly what puts scratches in paint.

Flat Out pads handle the upper panels. The Block Party handles the lower sections and never comes back up. Keeping them separate is the cheapest swirl prevention there is.

Do I really need two buckets?

Yes, and it is the single cheapest upgrade you can make. One bucket holds the soap, the other holds clean water for rinsing the pad. Without the second bucket you are putting the dirt you just pulled off the paint straight back into your soap and then back onto the paint.

Do I need a pressure washer for the foam cannon?

Yes. The Foam Thrower is built for a pressure washer, not a garden hose. A hose does not have the pressure to make foam worth the trouble.

If you do not have one, skip the cannon for now and wash out of the bucket. The soap works the same either way.

What do I actually use Solution for?

Everything the soap will not get on its own. It is a concentrate, so the dilution decides the job. Cut it weak for interior panels and trim, somewhere in the middle for bug splatter and door jambs, and strong for wheel wells, bed rails and anything greasy.

One gallon replaces a shelf of single purpose bottles, which is why it is the thing we ship the most of.

Who actually owns Shine Supply?

Jeremy Stevens. He got into detailing in 1996, started Shine Supply out of the family garage in 2008, and it has grown into what it is today. Two of his boys work alongside him, and the rest of the team has been with us a long time.

No private equity, no parent company. Just the family and the people we work with every day.

What if I have questions before I order?

Call us at 805-535-4332. You will talk to a real person every single time. You can also email Info@shinesupply.com and someone will get back to you.

Customer service is the foundation of this whole company. Ask us anything before you spend a dollar.

Can I buy this on Amazon?

No, and that is intentional. Staying off Amazon lets us keep full control over the experience and the connection to our customers.

It also protects our reputation and the reputation of the dealers who carry our product and use it to provide for their families. We want them to have full ownership of that. shinesupply.com is the only place to get it.
